Snowpack is waterlogged, shallow, and becoming more stable due to warmer temperatures and mixed precipitation, including rain, even at the highest elevations in the Fernan Saddle/Windy Ridge/Burnt Cabin Summit vicinity. Snow has melted off the trees, and conditions below the trees are often icy. Openings have deeper snowpack but still have an ice crust from the Jan. 12 snow event, although freeze/thawing and recent precipitation has softened it some.

Snowmobile trails crossing southerly aspects have stretches of poor coverage or just ice, so many have still not been groomed and cleared of trees since the Jan. 13 windstorm. Icy conditions will likely increase if hard freeze occurs following this rain/snow.

Precipitation was variable in form and quantity, coming down as rain, small graupel, sleet, or wet heavy snow and varying from light to heavy precip throughout the morning.
