More detailed information about the snowpack:

Snow was more dense than we expected, a thin layer of crust on top. We stuck to the low angle, skiing west off West Willow Peak. Whumphing and cracking were heard and seen on our skin track back up to West Willow Peak after our first run. Nothing moved but anytime we moved across an area that was more than 10-15 feet across and not in the trees the whumphing and cracking happened. Nothing moved on us while skiing. We did several hand shear test, and got a shear result about 18" down on the hoar frost layer, at about a Q2 each time. We saw 2 natural avalanches on Gold Hill across the Boulder Creek drainage. Hard to guess what the crown depth would be from that distance but it was visible, see photo for rough locations of the two slides.
