Snowpit Observations
More detailed information about the snowpack:

We were touring the ridge to St Regis peak from lookout pass but due to time turned around short at the end of Lookouts new ski area boundary & dropped out of it down to the snowmobile trails along the river. No results on the compression test but on the sheer test it broke first about 30cm down then again at 80cm down (right on that hard crust) it slipped right out when I tugged on it and landed at my feet. snowpack upon probing was 209cm deep, we only dug to just past 3 feet to that hard crust on an East/ NE slope at we're guessing 6200ish feet.
